Stem Cell Tested in Repair of Myocardial Infarcts

Joshua Hare, M.D., Louis Lemberg Professor of Medicine and director of the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute, discusses a recent study in which stem cells were tested in the repair of myocardial infarcts. Dr. Hare and his team used a porcine infarct model to follow mesenchymal stem cells that were injected into the myocardial infarct. The damaged areas diminished, and heart function improved.
